Holistic Living Counsellor
A Holistic Living Counsellor considers the whole entity, bringing all aspects together, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements that make up the human experience. That is where the term 'Holistic Living' derived from, looking after the whole body in a whole and complete way. This includes the counsellor empowering you, the client, to live your life from a wholeness perspective, holistically, integrated body, mind, feelings and looking at every aspect of your life, as it arises, in order to be whole and balanced.
Lynette Mitchell received her Diploma in Holistic Living Counselling through the Holistic Living Institute in Mt Waverley, Alannah Dore being the principal. The training is experiential, rather than academic.
Such a counsellor brings many aspects into play when working with clients and groups of people. There are many different counselling modalities, this particular one encompasses many paths, for example, eastern meditation, gestalt therapy, energy healing, inner child work and many counselling goal setting and NLP processes.
The purpose of seeing a Holistic Living Counsellor would be to become enabled to live a happier, integrated, fulfilling life, contributing to your own life experience fully, recognising and working through various issues. You may already be living a rich and rewarding life and as time goes by, things change. You will experience losses which leave you feeling grief, stress and sadness. Some parts of our life can be fraught with challenges. We may feel that there is no way out, no hope, it is an impossible situation that we are in and we can feel like giving up on life. From my experience these can also be positive moments, turning points, which can open new doors and new ways of looking at the situation and opportunities to do it differently.
The most common reasons it is found why people come to see Holistic Living Counsellors, relate either to relationships or to developmental life changes. Many people experience emotional crises when the relationship they are in is troubled or they have lost a relationship. Or even when seeking a relationship, without finding a satisfactory one.
The same could apply to relationship with one’s own self, suddenly a person may wake up feeling a shift in their consciousness and their life suddenly feels meaningless. They come to a Holistic Living Counsellor seeking resolution and to find themselves again, to clear away trauma and be born anew.
Holistic Living Counselling is about developing rapport and a positive relationship between counsellor and client. The counsellor will have achieved a certain amount of peace and integration in their life, which continues to be a major influence, ever improving, learning, integrating and transforming through various processes and situations.
Counsellors are required to maintain their current accreditation by undergoing professional development activities to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing training and development.
Most importantly they can be trusted as they are required to practice in accordance with the relevant code of ethics for Holistic Living Counsellors in their state or country of residence.
One on one therapy would enable you to confidentially discuss your issues with a qualified Holistic Living Counsellor, who is trained to empathically listen without leading the counselling session, as you uncover your underlying beliefs and fears.
The number of sessions would be envisaged to be two or three fairly close together, and then perhaps a month or so for you to apply yourself to your life situation, coming back for about a maximum of twelve at the most. It is not about reaching a stalemate, rather an opportunity to have the counsellor reflect back to you, whilst you work through achieving immeasurable success.
Testimonial:
I am currently doing a course and it required of me to do a placement in a particular job setting and I was very nervous and apprehensive about it. During this time I was lucky to have Lynette Mitchell counselling me. Her counselling skills are very good as she is so intuitive and caring. My placement turned out to be a huge success and I know I have Lynette Mitchell to thank for helping me get through it. I recommend her as a holistic living counsellor to anyone who wants to improve their life. Connie Ferlazzo, Korumburra.
