The Ferntree Gully Laughter Club meet at 10.30am on the 2nd, 4th & 5th Sunday behind the Ferntree Gully Library and Community Centre, 1010 Burwood Highway, FERNTREE GULLY. We gather behind behind library, near the rotunda and we laugh nearby. If the weather is incliment, we will be found behind the building.
Do do you laugh a lot - or do you need to laugh more?
We can all get depressed or down in the dumps at times and there is nothing like a good laugh to feel more uplifted. The Ferntree Gully Laughter Club has been meeting for five years and is led by a qualified Laughter Yoga Leader, who invites you to pop along and join in the merriment.
Turn your stress into laughter and feel invigorated!
There are now over 6,000 laughter clubs around the world in over 60 countries on 7 continents. Laughter has never been more important than it is now. As we age, we become serious and forget how to laugh or else find that we don't find much to laugh about any more. Coming along to the Ferntree Gully Laughter Club gives you the opportunity to fix that and experience an immediate release of tension and upliftment of spirit.
With regular laughter comes the ability to renew one’s sense of humour, get back in touch with the inner child and increase feelings of joy. Children have fun and we need to give ourselves permission to be silly and through that, we release inhibitions and learn to laugh again.
The benefits of laughter are many. It is an aerobic exercise, 100 laughs equal 10 minutes of rowing and it gives our internal organs a massage. Deeper breathing oxygenates the blood. Laughter strengthens the immune system, releases feel good endorphins, lowers blood pressure and it also brings people together. Laughter helps to open our hearts and we feel connected firstly with each other, then with our own internal self.
Our subconscious mind does not recognise the difference between fake laughter and that of real belly laughter. To that end, it can be developed and used as a practical daily exercise in order to improve our health and well-being.
You have the choice to make whether or not you wish to ground and experience more laughter each and every day. The goal of Laughter Yoga is to have fun and look for ordinary things to laugh at. No doubt our kids will support us in this endeavour and as they grow older, we can help them to keep laughing instead of losing this natural God given ability.
Do yourself a favour and come along to the Ferntree Gully Laughter Club, which is free and lots of fun. It belongs to you, the public and we meet outdoors. If the weather is not favorable, there is great protection behind the Library building away from the wind on the decking.
The next step for you is to ring Lynette to say 'hi' and confirm your interest in coming along or ask her any questions that you may have about the Ferntree Gully Laughter Club. Phone her 0425 799 258.
